Frequently Asked Questions

1Do hair transplants look natural?
Your follicular unit hair transplants look completely natural. Even surgeons are often unable to tell the difference between a transplanted and non-transplanted hair after a procedure by our doctors!
2Saç Ekimi Sonrası Yapılması ve Yapılmaması Gerekenler Nelerdir?
Absolutely not! Our doctors perform many hair transplant procedures on women. Female hair loss is often different than male hair loss, but a hair transplant can often rejuvenate a female patient’s hairline just as easily.
3How long do hair transplants last?
Typically, transplanted hair lasts a lifetime. Most patients never lose the hair from the donor areas, and it will grow just like your natural hair in the transplanted area.
4Is there any scarring from hair transplantation?
Whenever human skin is cut, it always heals by the process called “fibrosis.” This fibrosis (commonly known as scarring) is the skin’s way of healing. Thanks to the skill of our experienced hair transplant physicians, the healing sites in the transplanted areas are usually so small that the fibrosis is virtually undetectable. The scar in the donor area is covered by your existing hair.
5Am I a candidate for hair transplantation surgery?
Hair transplantation candidates should have some noticeable hair loss with healthy hair growth at the back and sides of the head which is mainly DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) resistant, to serve as donor areas from which grafts are taken. Both men and women are suitable for this surgery. The extent of your hair loss can be assessed using either the Norwood-Hamilton Scale (for men) or the Ludwig Scale (for women). Patients are counseled about the benefits and limitations of hair transplant surgery.
6Is there a lower age limit for hair transplantation?
There is not any age limitation for hair transplant operations. Hair transplant patients can range in age from 18 to 80. The type of the hair is more important than the age of patient.
7Which areas are suitable to be donor area?
For the hair transplants; the grafts mostly are taken from back side of head; between ears which we call “nape”. But in some cases it is possible to take the grafts from beard, chest and shoulder.
8When and how will my newly transplanted hairs start to grow?
In both all techniques, the restored hair will grow in the same fashion as one’s native hair. Within 2-3 weeks some or most of the transplanted hair will fall out from the transplanted hair follicle (generally contain 1-4 hairs). This is perfectly normal and you will start to notice new growth within a few months. Most patients attain 60% new hair growth six to nine months after surgery but in some cases it may take up to twelve to fifteen months for the hair follicles to grow. The transplanted hair grows very thin initially and gradually grows thicker and fuller over time. After one year a patient’s transplanted hair will be fully mature and will continue to grow for a long time as other hairs.
